Offered here for auction: Steuben Aurene Pulled Feather Sock Darner. How I Came to Own it I purchased this along side the other Darner i have listed from a house near Fayette NY near Seneca Lake. A fairly run down house belonging to a 93 year old woman, the pieces were in her China cabinet with two other Whimseys ( Celestial Red? screw driver and hammer) as well as a production pieced 8 inch perfume, which i would later identify in my brother's Carder Steuben Book, via the line drawings. These were the only pieces they would part with as the others were promised to family members. When asked where she acquired them, she told me they were her late husband's, who was born in 1914. His Uncle worked at Steuben in the early 1900's. An immigrant by the name of Jules Hydorf, her daughter wrote the name on the yellow paper for me to take with the pieces. I took it to The Carder Steuben Shop on Market Street in Corning and showed the manager Beth, she confirmed they both were in fact Carder Steuben.Measures: 6 inches in length, ball measures roughly 3 inches.Darner has a repaired break on the bottom where it fades to Yellow, crack was sustained when one of the daughters was using it as a maraca in the 1960'sCHECK OUT MY OTHER AUCTIONS FOR A FLAWLESS ONE IN ROGUE FLAMBE!LOW START AND NO RESERVE!HAPPY FALL AND !
