Esteemed Austrian modernist Carl Auböck made his name in the 1920s as a painter after studying at the Bauhaus. Decades later, the visionary artist focused his aesthetic on homeware and won four gold medals at the Triennale di Milano in 1954. Cast in the 1950s, this brass corkscrew and bottle opener is an extraordinary example of the designer's craft. Whether displayed next to a favourite bottle of Cheval Blanc or used as a paperweight, this piece is certain to add charm to any home or office. Up for bid is a funky and a VERY hard to find solid brass key-shaped corkscrew and bottle opener designed by Austrian artist Carl Aub öck in the 1950's. This brass key corkscrew is in beautiful condition, with minimal nicks and stains from age (see photos for better detail) The brass key as a whole can be used as a bottle opener but when you screw off the oval handle, out comes a corkscrew! Bring out the wine!! This brass corkscrew is signed on the end 'Aubock' in cursive.
