Carl Forslund Carved Grouse This is a small, beautifully hand carved and hand painted grouse in excellent condition. It has no damage that I can find other than two tiny chips in the underside of the tail--I tried to photograph, but they just don't show. It also has a small dab of dried glue on the inside of the left foot where it may have been repaired at one time, I'm not sure. It is colorfully painted in brown, with accents in tan, black, white, and khaki. It has green felt on the bottom of the base, and is not marked as Carl Forslund, but it was with my grandmother's other Forslund pieces and looks like his work, so I'm confident that it is. It measures 5" beak to tail and stands 5" tall. Carl Forslund Furniture was a well-known furniture store for over 30 years, located in Grand Rapids, Michigan until the store closed in the 1970's. The carvings were offered in the furniture store and sometimes given as a promotional gift with furniture purchased. They carried a variety of many species of game birds. This is a small version of the birds the company offered. This bird is from my father's estate, originally inherited from my grandparent's estate. My grandmother was a Carl Forslund fan and had collected both furniture pieces and carvings. I have 7 total Carl Forlund carved birds to post, so check out my other items for sale for some of his other pieces. They are highly sought after and would make a great addition to a collection. I start the bidding low, so don't miss out on this opportunity! I accept Paypal only for payment, which is expected within 3 days of auction end. If I have not received either payment or word from you regarding payment, item may be relisted and you may be reported to Ebay as a non-paying bidder, sorry. I ship Priority Mail to the US only.
