Carl Forslund Carved Pheasant This is a beautifully hand carved and hand painted pheasant in mint-near mint condition. I've been told it's one of the most difficult of all Carl Forslund carvings to locate. It has no damage that I can find, and is colorfully painted in the hues reminiscent of its time period. It is date "1969" on the underside of the base of the tail. It measures 14" from beak to tail and stands 8.5" tall. Carl Forslund Furniture was a well-known furniture store for over 30 years, located in Grand Rapids, Michigan until the store closed in the 1970's. The carvings were offered in the furniture store and sometimes given as a promotional gift with furniture purchased. They carried a variety of many species of game birds. This pheasant was one of the last birds the company offered. This bird is from my father's estate, originally inherited from my grandparent's estate. My grandmother was a Carl Forslund fan and had collected both furniture pieces and carvings.
