This is an offer for a pair of highly decorative plates dating from the early 1900s from W & R Carlton Ware. This delightful pair has a pattern number 2281.Set on a matt Black ground is a handpainted scene of two Cockerels standing amongst beautifully enamelled flowers including peonies, hence their designation 'Cock & Peony'. There is gilding around the rim which has evidence of some very slight rubbing/wear but no other damage to the gilt, as such. The only detriment to two otherwise excellent plates is a small nibble underside on one plate. )I've tried to show this in photo 2 but it is quite small.)They have a diameter of 8.75 inches (22.5 cms). Backstamped in blue. I'm happy to provide as many extra photos as required, in which case please supply an email address to do so. UK postage is £4.95 by trackable delivery. Overseas airmail starts at £9.95. I'm happy to combine postage where possible.Payment should be by PayPal or it can be by cheque or uncrossed Postal Order (UK only).
