"CARMEL" Sterling 95-Piece FLATWARE SET by Wallace ~

The founder of Wallace Silversmiths, Robert Wallace, began making German silver spoons in a Connecticut flour mill at the age of 18. Eventually, Wallace expanded his practice and began making German silver forks and similar articles . His attention to detail and eye for quality quickly assisted him in creating a silversmithing firm that would last for over 100 years under the name Wallace & Co and later Wallace Silversmiths.

In 1912, Wallace introduced the "Carmel" Sterling Flatware Pattern. The pattern was named after the Spanish mission in Northern California, which was first established in 1770 near Monterrey, California. This Arts & Crafts pattern appears to be fashioned to look like it was handstamped with a Spanish cross on the tip. T is an "M" monogram on the handle.
