Constructo's 1:80 scale "Carmen"represents a typical Mediterranean fishing schooner plying it's trade in the mid-19th century. Designed along the sharp lines of speedy "pilot" boats, small sail-powered schooners like the "Carmen" competed successfully with larger steam-powered competitors for many years. Constructo's kit features "plank-on-bulkhead" construction with laser cut wooden parts for an accurate replica. The kit provides an array of wooden strips for planking, dowels for masts and spars and accurately scaled hardwood and metal fittings that include deadeyes and blocks, brass portholes, gudgeons and pintles, eyebolts and belaying pins. Sailcloth, cotton rigging line and a display base along with an illustrated instruction booklet and a large rigging plan sheet are also included. This kit builds to a nicely impressive replica of these proud and important fishing boats. When complete the model is 18.5" long and 177" high (with display stand). This "Carmen" kit has never been started. All wood sheets with the larger wooden parts are intact and smaller wood and metal fittings are still sealed in their original packaging. The kit appears complete, but I have not counted each individual piece. Tools, glue, paint and other building supplies/equipment are not included and must be provided separately.
