The Ultimate Valentine - A Soldiers Gift The" Sweetheart Bracelets" range in age from 1900 through to 1960. These bracelets experienced enormous popularity during the war periods and were often given as a token of love before a soldier went off to war. A soldier gave this jewelry to someone special as a gesture of love and remembrance. The tradition of sending these home to girlfriends, fiancées, wives, daughters, and mothers from the war front began during World War I and intensified during World War II. These items were worn as reminders of loved ones overseas. The D.F.B. CARMEN expanding bracelet is designed with beautifully crafted alternating links of smooth and engraved scrollwork designs. D.F.B. expandable bracelets are made with moveable metal links with metal joints attaching each link to the other that expand and contract to fit your wrist. D.F.B. was founded by D.F. Briggs in 1892 then changed to Briggs, Bates & Bacon 1922-1950. The name 'Carmen' was in honor of his daughter. This bracelet has a center piece that has never been engraved!
