CAR HISTORY Popular, and some even said handsome, Pancho Carter, won Rookie of the Year at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 1974. Although Carter had never started a Champ car event or raced a rear-engine car, the former USAC Midget Champion passed his rookie test in two days.
