The main body is ONE single piece of wood. The bars formingdouble rack are also hand carved, each bar is one single piece of wood. Barsare screwed to the main body. Even the hanger is carved into the top of the main body. Notice that the notches which hold the spoons are staggered between top and bottom racks.
From the tip of the lion’s nose to the flat back side is 3”; the width across the mane is 4½”. The piece is 18” top to bottom; the bars are about 10” across. There are spaces for 10 spoons. A deep rich original patina covers the entire piece. It is in excellent condition with just two very minor losses. The tip of one scroll is missing (but must have happened years ago because the patina is nearly as dark there as it is on the rest of the piece.) The very tip of the bottom rack is also missing but very slight. Please view the pictures.
