CARVED WALNUT EASTLAKE AESTHETIC FURNITURE PANELS - These are marvelous Walnut side panels from an 1877 Shoninger pump organ in their original finish. They are made of solid Walnut and have burled Walnut veneer jewel accents on both the top plates and the sides. The sides are very solid and yet reasonably light at just 17 pounds per side. This is all exquisite old-growth lumber of the highest quality. The pieces have their original French Polished oil-shellac using many coats like a piano. The molding and carved trim is quite extraordinary and these side pieces could be used to make any number of things. In one photo I have positioned them as they might be linked together to form a head board. The rectangular part of the sides measure 46.5 inches high and 13 inches wide. With the width of the angled cheek blocks added the entire assembly becomes 24 inches wide at its widest point. It would be possible to separate the cheek block from the rectangular portion if only part of it was needed. I have purposely not re-glued the frame to allow future owners to remove and modify pieces as needed. It can be pulled apart without damage for refinishing or modification or made totally solid by the addition of a few strips of glue. Also included with the side are the cabinet doors from the organ and two cap pieces, all of which bear the same carving and acanthus leaves as the sides. Some molding is missing on the door and I have left the molding off so that it can be replicated. You can also see w the door was nicely repaired. The doors are 18 inches high and 6 3/8 inches wide. If t is room in the box, I will include other planks of wood from the organ that may be useful in restoring or creating something new. Some have burled panels.
