Up for bid today we have an original vintage Humpback whale on a wooden plaque carved by Bob Selover. It is made out of Honduras mahogany and the carver has written a little history about the whale on the back of the plaque. Also on the back of the plaque it reads"Wood from old desktop called a debit desk which was discarded 30 or more years ago." It also states on the back that the piece was a gift from so and so to so and so. No dates that I can find, but judging from some foxing on the paper I would guess it to be pretty old. Great beach house item!! Plaque measures 17 3/4" x 9 1/2" and the whale measures 13 3/4" long. Info on artist as follows: Lived in Bernardsville,N.J. ,retired to Tyron, N.C. and was active with Tyron Painters/Sculptors as a sculptor working in wood,marble, clay, and bronze media. Now deceased.
