I am offering this Beautiful Case 1987 Stag Double Eagle Bowie Hunting Knife pattern #523-7SS. This knife commemorates the two hundred years 1787-1987 Freedom's Framework of The United States Consititution. The flat ground blade has a highly detailed bald eagle, banner, ink quills and readable constitution gold engraved etching. This beauty earned its name as the double eagle knife because of the beautiful eagle engraving on the blade and the stunning large thick nickel silver eagle head pommel. The job of doing the finish polishing of this knife was very dangerous to the cutler due to the potential of the eagle beak getting caught in a large fast moving buffing wheel. This knife has a bright polished 420 surgical stainless steel full tang blade that maintains its original razor sharp edge. The etch side of the blade tang is stamped CASE XX three dots and lighting SS indicating production of 1987. The backside of the blade tang is stamped with pattern #523-7SS. The finger guard and eagle pommel are nickel silver. The scales are thick georgous India stag with two brass spun pins. The front stag scale does have an age related shrinkage hairline at the bottom under the pin starting at the pommel and moves toward the left as shown in the photos.
