Thanks for visiting my knife sale Presented for your approval and purchase is a pristine example of a Case Classic 3 Backspring Whittler handled in deep red antique bone* and dated 1990. This knife is 1 of only 500 configured with this combination of handle material, Bowtie Shield and Case Brothers tang stamps. The 30109X pattern is 3-1/4 inches closed, one of the smallest Classics produced. What the pattern lacks in size is amply compensated for in features like the slanted, pinched & grooved bolsters, or the 3 full length blades, each with it's own backspring. The pattern number for this knife presents some questions: The tang on this example does not show X, yet other variations I own do have it, The C-O-A says "63109", the box says "R63109", and my price guide calls it a "630109X". Go figure! The knife has never been carried, sharpened, or otherwise fooled around with, and there are no cracks or chips on either of the bone scales. A rub mark or two is all you'll find on the blades, besides the XX stamping on the primary spear blade. These high quality knives were made with nickel silver bolsters and brass liners, and the Bowtie S hield is pinned to the front liner. See the photos for details about the tang stamps found on this knife. I believe the knife was manufactued under license by Bluegrass Cutlery. Included with read more
