In the Case Classic Series of Knives t are 3 patterns that carry a Genuine XXX stamp ~ All 3 patterns were made in House at the W.R.Case & Sons factory ~ These knives were produced in 1990 only one time with the triple X stamp ~ In a letter to Jim Parker dated June 4, 1991 on W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery letterhead and signed by company President Mel Armstrong, it reads in part " We have several requests from our customers for Case XXX knives , Our employees don`t want to make these knives because they think the XXX is a putdown to the XX trademark. For this and other reasons, we have made a company policy that we will not produce any more Case XXX knives now or in the future ." ~ Needless to say that the Case XXX knife is Rarer than Rare ~ 1 0f the only 3 XXX patterns produced, this knife for sale is the 394 Gunboat Canoe @ only 500 made ~ the other 2 patterns are the 488 Congress @ 500 made and the 2100 Saddlehorn @ 1100 made ~ XXX knives will never again be produced by W.R. Case & Sons, ever and that`s a fact ~ This piece is a genuine Case Classic XXX Greenbone Gunboat Canoe ~ Tangs are deep stamped beautifully CASE XXX on all three blades ~ 4 1/4 " closed ~ carries the old style long pull with a CASE pinned on Bomb Shield ~ a stunningly pristine knife with super color Greenbone superbly matched Scales ~ Mint ~so~ Mint in fact that I can`t even find a blade rub on this XXX , that`s one reason these XXX`s are so special as they were made in house by W.R. Case & Sons and you can really appreciate the extra attention to the quality of this piece compared to the other Case Classics made by Blue Grass Cutlery ... sorry but t`s definitely a difference and contributes to this piece being so rare and valuable ~ one of the most brilliant Case Classic Knives you could ever put back in your collection, investment grade as they don`t get any more Rare & Mint than this Case Classic XXX ...
