Case Sign Selling is an original Case Threshing Machine Company metal sign. Itdepicts a tandem-compound engine and probably dates to about 1900. I suspect it spent much of its life in a barn protected from rain and sun but humidity problems promoted surface rust over most of the sign. The sign is embossed and still has most of its color and detail. In a low, diffuse light setting the image is rather haunting, like seeing a ghostly phantom in the fog. There is a 1-2mm hole in the center of the sign, very hard to see unless the sign is backlighted. The sign has an intact black frame which almost certainly was provided with sign. The frame is 22 inches wide and 16 ¼ inches tall. This sign was hung in Dad's man cave for many a year, and he smiled when he looked at it. About the collection For years my grandfather and father collected farm-related literature and advertising items, almost all 1850s-1930 and very many steam, gas tractor/engines and horse-drawn items. These include catalogs, flyers, repair lists, price lists, period thresher magazines, watch fobs and photos. The time has come to place these long-treasured items in the hands of other enthusiasts. Time will tell if eBay remains the best venue. Here is a list of manufacturers included in upcoming listings: Hart Parr, Gaar Scott, Rumely, Advance, IHC, Buffalo Pitts, Keck-Gonnerman, read more
