Condition Descriptions: Due to the change in Ebay's feedback method. I am modifying my Description Method. I will now grade knives based on Five categories: Blades, Bolsters, Scales, Cleaness, and Overall. Knives will be rated according to Jim Parker's System of "Percent of Mint Condition" giving considerations for age. Blades: Wobble -10%, Loss of Snap or Lazy Blades -10%, No Snap -20%, Patina or Spotting (called pepper) -5%, Rust or Pitting -10%, Used or Sharpened -10% or more (depending on degree of blade loss). Other visible defects -1 to 10%. Bolsters: Scratches or Pocket Worn -10%, Nail Catches -5% per catch, Dents or Dings -10%, Rust or Pitting -10%, Other visible defects -1 to 10%. No deductions will be made for removeable tarnish which can be lightly polished out. Scales: Cracks at pins -10%, Chips -10%, Broken or missing scales -25%, Missing Shields -25%. Other visible defects -1 to 10%. Cleaness: Loss of Etching or Coloring -10 to 20%, Removable Tarnish -10%, Caking inside of knife fold (evidence of carrying) -20%, Oil or Grime buildup -10%. Other visible defects -1 to 10%. Age Considerations: Pre 1940 = 10%, Case XX 1940-64 = 8%, Case XX USA 1965-69 = 6%, Case XX USA dotted 1970-79 = 4%, Case XX USA Lightning S dotted = 2%, 1990 and newer = none given. Overall: Will be an average percentage of the 4 categories including a percent value for Age Consideration. This is the Rating I will put in the main description area of my listing.
