Case XX USA Abalone Whittler 8383WH SS, Mint Knife, Box & Sleeve Item #02711 From 1999, here is a beautiful Case XX USA 8383WH SS Abalone Split-Back Whittler. It is still in the original black velvet Case box, with dated sleeve and warranty paper, in mint condition. It has 1 Dot on the tang stamp, dating this knife to 1999. The label on the original sleeve is dated 08/27/99 (see photo). The pattern number on the dated label is 6383 which was incorrect for Abalone. This was a factory error and will be found on all the Abalone knives produced in this series. The pattern number stamp is correct on the knife at 8383 (see photos). This knife was 1 of only 250 produced and has serial #038 engraved on the right front bolster and written on the dated label. The knife has beautiful Abalone Pearl handles with Nickel Silver bolsters, liners, and Case XX inlaid shield on the front handle. It measures 3 1/2" in the closed position. The Tru-Sharp stainless steel blades have a very sharp factory edge, and excellent snap at closing. No spotting or pitting. It has the Whittler name etched on the master blade (see photo).
