CASSIERS Henry (Belgian School / Antwerp 1858 Brussels 1944) Painter of landscapes, marines, urban sights, Henri Cassiers is mainly an aquarellist and also etcher. He started his artistic education as pupil at the Academy of Antwerp with H. Staquet. The artist worked often in Holland and Zeeland, the landscapes of these region are found in many of his compositions. As Chairman of the Royal Society of Aquarellist, he illustrated several books, designed many artistic poster and colour-prints. In his paintings, he always stressed the picturesque side of his subjects. Henri Cassiers produced an easy art that nevertheless remains charming and seducing.
