Offered in auction is this wonderful cast iron pocket watch holder. I guarantee this piece to be from at least the turn of the century. It is a figural piece and he is either a cobbler or a watchmaker. He is leaning on his workbench with his slippers on with a drink in his hand and he is pointing to the time (the place w the pocket watch goes).......I know that he is saying "It's five o'clock somew!!!" JK! His work is done and it is time for a drink! This piece measures 8 1/2" tall x 9 1/2" long x 4 1/4" wide. The place to put the watch is a shell shape inside and out and the inside measurement is 2 7/16" wide x 7/16" deep. It weighs 3 1/2 lbs. The finish is in very good condition, especially for its age - only slight wear - the most on the flat surface in the front, and on the shoe in the bottom left corner. T is a tiny 1/4" stress crack directly across from the bottom of the square of the right table leg and the circle opening. It is difficult to see in photo #7. It does not harm the integrity of the piece in any way, but I still needed to mention it. This is really a cool piece! The American Waltham Watch Co. pocket watch comes with this piece for show (actually, it is a little too deep at 3/4") It has a thick crystal and is a silveroid case. It has a cracked dial and I do not know if it even works. OUR POLICY is as follows: Buyer to pay within 10 days of auction end. Please no last minute PayPal without funds available. I ship within 2 days of payment and use mostly Priority Mail with no added fees. California residents pay 8% sales tax unless a resale certificate is filed with me. Overseas buyers must have a good PayPal reference or check must clear before I will ship by insured Express Mail with no added fees.
