This small coffee cup stands about 2.3 inches high and is made of porcelain which shows the typical Caughley straw coloured paste. The handle shape is one of many this factory used and is reminiscent of contemporary Lowestoft shapes.It is decorated with a cobalt blue band with gilt line borders and little gilded floral motifs.It is marked with the Caughley blue s for "Salopian" on the base and dates from about 1790 The physical condition is good, without any cracks chips or restoration. The gilded lines are rubbed and there are a couple of blue smudge under the glaze.
