This is a BEAUTIFULvintage/antique? Cavalier Red Cedar Chest made from "Tennessee AromaticRed Cedar" - per the original tags inside. It has the woodburned brand mark inside as well. I purchased this from a friend at work. She is in her 50's and she said it belonged to her mother when she was younger, so I am not exactly sure of the actual age of the chest. The interior is absolutely gorgeous. T is the original paperwork, pamphlet and key and working lock. I really knew nothing about the chest, but was able to research it a little bit online at the website It provided some great information and tips. The value of it was listed upwards of about $500. It is a Waterfall style designed top and has a cedar and covered veneer. T is some slight stripping/fringing of the veneer in the front right corner, but, according to what I read at that website, it can be easily fixed. T are some pieces that are in the top shelf of the chest that someone saved to fix it with. I don't know if they fill in the whole section that is missing, but t seems to be enough. I have not altered the chest at all and I believe it is in its original condition. I ended up with all boys and I already had a hope chest, so I really don't need two.
