~~ No reserve ~~~ Highest bidder wins it! ~~ BUT ~~ Please be prepared to pay for it! is a collectible saddle that you can ride! Works for Cavalry re-enacting. It is a WWl saddle, thought to be from Ft Riley, Ks. Has a 11 1/2" seat that sits about like a 15 1/2" Western. They were considered size "Med". Folks ride these as if they were 16", but I don't know for how long at a time. This is a consignment item from the accumulation of an old time horseman & militaria collector. Appears to be a 1904 second pattern artillery saddle. Perhaps someone will confirm this and I'd welcome any comments .... Tree has no give anyw Seat leather is supple, no cracks or checking. All correct hardware (bronzed except quarterstrap buckles) is present except bag stud as noted. I found no marks other than Clinton, 1918 & LHA (inspector) on the round sheepskin backed safe (as shown in pic). Rigging is firmly anchored, straps seem entirely usable but for safety please check 'em. At some point 3 of the 4 quarter strap rings have gone from the square standard pattern to round brass ones. This looks to be a period repair. Stirrups are correct Artillery style steel. They're servicable, but pitted & showing their age.
