Romania Smokey Quartz Crystal Cluster
This beautiful smokey quartz crystal cluster is from Cavnic, Romania. This location produces some of the coolest, most unique smokey quartz in the world. This specime has beautiful smokey points, that may also contain chloride (so I have been told by several collectors), which could explain the greenish tinge to it. The points are covered in nice pink Dolomite. The pink Dolomite has lots of particles of Chalcopyrite ("iridescent" pyrite) on it, these sparkle nicely. This specimen is in great condition. This is a large cluster, with points wide, and tall as small "thumb" size, and bigger. Sometimes called "pineapple" quartz due to the point formation, which looks similar to a pineapple. There is also some Chalcopyrite on the base, as well as what is believed to be Sphalerite. This specimen is a must for any mineral collector! (Note specimen has been irradiated, though whether it was done by nature or man is not known to me. Usually man done irradiation is jet black. All true smokey quartz is irradiated by nature, or man.)
