Outstanding CDV of a full standing Union Soldier identified on the back in period ink as William S. Haggard 16th Battery, Indiana Lt. Battery. Taken at the Mathew Brady Gallery in Washington. He enlisted as a Private May 11th 1862 and his rank out was Corporal when he mustered out on July 05, 1865. An extensive review of his life on indicates that he went on to become the Lieutenant Govenor of Indiana from 1892 to 1901 and President of the Senate (Republican) . Details of his life and the service of his unit during the Civil War are provided below. A valuable piece of Indiana history that is worthy of a museum.
