1892 This is a great antique CDV photograph, larger than average at 5.25 by 8.5 inches. It features 41 different images collected together, each dated (spanning 1865 to 1892), showing the stages of the construction of the great Mormon Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah. It also includes two newspaper columns, a small newspaper headline, and the photographer's publishing info (near the middle) which states "Entered according to act of Congress in the year 1892, by Chas. W. Carter, in the office of the Librarian of Congress, Washington, D.C."
On the reverse is a paper label, titled "The Temple. Salt Lake City. Illustrated by C. W. Carter", followed by detailed text describing the history of the building of the temple, noting costs and measurements, mentioning the Wasatch and Jordan Valley Railroad, and that "the capstone was set by President Woodruff, April 6th, 1892, by the aid of electricity in the presence of over 40,000 people"; also mentions that these and other Utah views can be obtained from the photographer.
