From an estate: CARTE-DE-VISITE of PRIVATE DIETRICH BINGLE OF COMPANY D, 10th NEW YORK HEAVY ARTILLERY . Studio shot of Bingle in uniform with patriotic background. (See scan 1.) Civil War carte-de-visite done by Jno. Holyland Metropolitan Gallery, 250 Pennsylvania Ave., Washington DC. (See scan 2.) Back shows Holyland's imprint and has hand written identification. Bingle enlisted on 8/11/1862 at Wilna, NY as a Private. On 9/11/1862 he mustered into Co. B, First Battalion, Black River Artillery (later Co. D, NY 10th Heavy Artillery). He was Mustered Out on 6/23/1865 at Petersburg, VA. (More information on Bingle can be found on the Sons of Union Veterans website at /past/dietrichbingle.htm although some of the dates appear to be in error.) CONDITION: condition is very good. Corners show a tiny bit of turning. Photo shows some sepia aging as does the mount. All in all, a decent original Civil War era identified CDV. SHIPPING: Buyer pays $3.00 USPS FIRST CLASS mailing.
