A Caswell-Runyan Co. cedar chest. Three quarter inch solid cedar board constructed with walnut veneer on exterior. Top has molded and fluted edge across front and sides. A large turned ring and vase spindle runs the width of the top along the back secured with two carved plates on the right and left sides. Ball and block turned legs/feet with a single molded stretcher connecting the front and rear legs. The bottom edge is finished with molding across the front and sides as well. Interior dimensions are 42Lx17Wx11D. All joints are tight. Some minor dings and dents which are typical of a piece at this age. Professionally refinished with a dark cherry color and soft satin finish. The color and finish nicely display the fire and grain of this beautiful veneer. A light interior sanding has strengthened the cedar aroma. A lovely collectible piece that is still very practical. This piece is signed and includes the original Caswell-Runyan Co. advertising bulletin (see photo #4).
