You are bidding on a Astra lllB Celestaire Sextant. It is Astra's top of the line full size "Celestaire", still in it's factory case, with the original papers and correction table. The sextant retainins virtually all of it's original finish, with the optics- The mirrors, filters and starscope remaining PERFECT - Obviously they had never been exposed to spray or actual use. This is a gorgeous navigational instrument. Optics are of incredible clarity and resolution . Sextant has a heavy lanyard professionally braided on for secure carry. Arc has green L.E.D. illumination for low light use, with the battery compartment in the handle remaining immaculate having never seen a battery. Micrometer worm has no wear, and the arc remains perfect. Case measures 10 5/8" X 13 1/4". Case shows some typical nicks and marks of having been stored. Comes with the 'Astra lllB Marine Sextant Instructions', the original, unfilled registration card and the "Marine Sextant Certificate of Qualification", showing that "This instrument is free of errors for practical use." Also includes the mirror and filter wrench, spare LED, the factory spare mirror springs and screwdriver, along with a container of sextant lubricant.
