Pipes crafted by the Danish carver Svend Axel Celius seem to be enjoying a resurgence in popularity as more and more of us come to appreciate their extraordinary qualities. Their beauty of design, quality of briar, smooth cool smoking characteristic and (as Celius has been gone for a decade) their scarcity combine to make all grades of Celius pipes worthy of a place on even the most discriminating smoker's rack. The Celius Pawn offered in this auction is exceptionally deeply blasted and offers a craggy, rugged appearance and a wonderful feel in the hand. It has been smoked, but has been preserved in excellent condition with only a few minor tooth marks on the bit. Even the plateau rim has been beautifully cleaned and the pipe is in ready-to-smoke condition.Dimensions: 6" x 2-5/8" x 7/8".
