ANTIQUE CENTENNIAL 1776 - 1876 WORLD'S FAIR SAMPLER The Centennial International Exhibition of 1876, the first official World's Fair in the United States , was held in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania , to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia. It was officially the International Exhibition of Arts, Manufactures and Products of the Soil and Mine. It was held in Fairmount Park , along the Schuylkill River . The fairgrounds were designed by Hermann Schwarzmann . About 10 million visitors attended, equivalent to about 20% of the population of the United States at the time. This is a great piece. The carved frame does have partial leaves missing as shown in pictures. This piece is very fragile and definitely old. Slight pieces are missing in the sampler, as I tried to depict in the pictures. But even with that, it is a remarkable piece of memorabilia. Not only do you get a sampler but an article as well. the frame measures aprox. 15" x 17 1/2" from end to end of frame. What a great item for any collection! Please feel free to email me with any questions you may have as I will be more than happy to answer as best I can. Shipping outside of the USA will be an additional cost. Be sure to check out my other sites as I will be listing a variety of items daily. An invoice will be sent out shortly after the end of the auction. If you are a winner, please acknowledge within 3 days. And also have payment ready by then. If this is not possible, please notify me. Thank you for visiting my site. And you be sure to have a great day!
