Description: 2 Ceramic Arts Studio mid century vintage pieces designed by Betty Harrington circa 1949. This "Chinese Couple" Asian genre set is titled "Ting-A-Ling" (standing male 5.5") and "Sung-Tu" (kneeling female 4"). They are a matching set. Their clothing is yellow tops, white pants, and orange accents. These are in excellent condition with no crazing or knicks. There is one small factory flaw (it is under the original glaze) on the front right side of the kneeling figure's jacket. (See enlarged photos for detail viewing.) These are unmarked on the bottom which is normal for this early set. These figures are authentic CAS/BH figures from the Madison, WI studio and are NOT the cheap reproductions made after the studio closed in 1955. These two figures are featured on page 37 of Mike Schneider's "Ceramic Arts Studio: Identification and Price Guide" book and on page 87 of Johnson, Holthaus & Petzold's "Ceramic Arts Studio: The Legacy of Betty Harrington".
