CH. LEVY CO. FRENCH 19TH CENTURY FIGURINES MAIDEN & BEAU I am pleased to offer this lovely pair of antique porcelain figurines on ornate reticulated bases. These male and female figurines measure about 13 inches tall when on their bases. The figurines have no markings, however, the bases are marked in underglazed blue with a straight line and an X at the top. The pair is marked with the mark of CH. Levy and Co. This is a particularly beautiful set of figurines. The bases are ornate and feature panels of reticulated woven detail with blue floral and featuring colors of pink, magenta, gilt, and blue. The base spread at the bottom measures close to 7 inches. One base has an inch hairline on one of the curled feet but overall they are in very nice condition. The maiden figurine features a 19th century-dressed woman holding a small posy of flowers and a water pitcher. Her gown is in blue with pink and green stripes and then overskirt apron of pink and green delicate florals. Her shoes are delicate blue with magenta floral detail at the top. T is some scattered losses of the enamel at the very base, but I see no areas of true damage. She also has a small area of loss of the enamel near her shoulder. Her features are delicate and she wears a white bonnet. The gentleman figurine features clothing and complementary colors to the maiden. It appears that t has been a repair to the tree stump he is sitting on. He has a bit of the enamel loss and cracking to enamel of his right foot. He is playing the mandolin and serenading the maiden.
