Chain Mail Armor Shirt FLAT ring Steel SCA sz LARGE This is the finest in SCA combat mail, ONLY 22 pounds. Photo is in galvanized, but this auction is for one in BLACK, gunblued. Each ring is hammered flat, it is not made from bulky washers. The overlap is peened flat as well. Great look on this most period mail. This is a size Large shirt, hard to find without special order. If you are going to fight in it, you need at least 10 inches of play, so this shirt should work up to about a 54 suit size. Chain mail does not stretch! About 60" chest and 34" from shoulder to hem. The rings were 9.5mm ID 18ga before flattening, of course they are stronger then that now, due to hammer hardening and cross section. This is the final design in a SCA combat shirt, around 20 pounds but worth every pound of protection, it will hold up better then a 14ga butted shirt. Sleeves to around the elbow. Each ring is individually riveted closed. New made, no rust. Ten day inspection period.This item was designed by and Manufactured for Von Sussen Enterprises.
