CHALK CHALKWARE CARNIVAL PRIZE: LION

You are bidding on a vintage chalk carnival prize LION. Items like this were given away as prizes at carnivals and circuses from the 1920's to about 1950, before the advent of the stuffed plush toy animal.

This lion is in excellent condition with only a few paint chips, usually seen with these types of chalk figures. The King of Beasts measures 10 inches tall, 12 inches long and 3 inches deep. He is painted yellow with highlights of red, green and black. His mouth is open and you can almost hear him roar! The original glitter sprinkled on his mane still sparkles.

Time to start your own circus? This lion would make a beautiful start!

This same lion is pictured on Page 178 (Figure 149) of the book "The Carnival Chalk Prize" by Thomas G. Morris.
This piece is solid and heavy and requires extra packing.
