Challengers of the Unknown Oct./Nov. 1959; T may be no sweeter or scarcer sight in vintage comics than to see incredibly well preserved DC comics from about 1966 and before, with the further back you go increasing the scarcity gradually. This is a fantastic VF+ 8.5 copy (graded previously by 2 Overstreet advisors and confirmed wholeheartedly by myself). This book meets all the criteria of a Very Fine and gets a big PLUS from one visually overwhelming attribute: unbelievable thick lustrous cover gloss. You have your typical light accumulation of border wear along the spine and at other isolated spots, but the midcover area is just pristine (smooth and wrinkle/impression-free) and has that fresh spraypaint look. Gorgeous cover surfaces. T is what appears to have been something stuck to a small dab of retailer's paint on the top edge of the back cover, appears to be a small piece of frayed blue paper. At any rate, something that is a non-wear defect and when you see it you will realize it is of little consequence. What a great cover on this 1959 gem! This stellar early issue of a classic Silver-Age DC title has 2 complete Challengers stories: "The Four Faces of Doom!" and "The Cave Man Beast". I can't imagine that this copy isn't in the top 5% or so of all existing copies of this issue. A beautiful treasure that is incredibly hard read more
