1885/1895 Chandler & Price GORDON JOBBER, Dimensions: 4ft. long, 4ft. wide, 5 ft. tall Printing Bed Dimensions: 12" x 18" This old press still runs smoothly...working motor with 12 speeds and new rubber rollers. Though my photos show a patent date of 1885, I was informed that the serial number 4268 located in the top left corner of the printing bed, indicates an actual manufacture date of 1895. My dad bought this press in 1976 and it has been in our basement since then. He used it regularly during the 80's-90's to make business cards. He also has 10 chases, some brass and regular type galleys, some keys, but no wood furniture or lead type for them. Although, he has one chase prepared so he can demonstrate that the press will run and print. My pictures show that t is no rust damage. T is also a large rectangular shaped ink well that attaches above the ink disc, which I forgot to attach when I took the pictures LOCAL PICK-UP ONLY! Winner MUST have the ability to disassemble and re-assemble this press. It has no instructions and my dad did not assemble it. He remembers t being one main center piece, which we're guessing weighs a few hundred pounds. The flywheels, gears, belts and other moving parts attach to it. Winner is also responsible for arranging transportation and carrying it out of our basement. After the basement door, t are 5 concrete steps to climb up, then another doorway to the outside backyard. The opening bid is only 1 penny because we need to get rid of it, and realize the winner will have to spend time, energy and money taking it apart, then hauling it away. We're not expecting to make any money on this thing. You'll need to bring tools and equipment for moving. The basement is well lit and HEATED, and we'll provide snacks, beverages and TV/radio, since you'll be down t for a while. If you want to see more pictures or have any questions, just email me! We'd like to get rid of it as soon as possible, but are willing to wait and coordinate with your schedule. We're located in Chicago, on the northwest side.
