This book lot contains two of Charley's best books. The first book, An Illustrated Life compiled by Todd Oldham, depicts a lifetime of Charley's artwork. This miniature sized book is a great book for admiring Charley's work starting with the Ford Times prints in the 1950's all the way to the paintings and posters created just before his death. This book measuring 9" x 6 1/2" is a convenient size for handling. With over 400 pages this book shows many of Charley's greatest works that can be enjoyed within the book or could be cut out to frame for a great collage. The second book, Birds and Words, is a re-release of Charley's book from the 1970's. This limited edition book is linen bound and comes with a linen bound case. Also included with this book is a silkscreen print titled "Flamingo" that measures approximately 6 1/2" x 8" that would be great for framing. This book depicts many of the different bird prints Charley created for the Ford Times magazine from the 1950's to the 1970"s. This book lot would be a great gift for the Harper enthusiest or buy the lot and keep one or both books for yourself. Charley Harper's Modern minimalism perfectly completes the Mid-Century Moderndecor that's popular right now. His work fits very well among furnitureby designers such as Isamu Noguchi, Charles and Ray Eames, Florence Knoll, and Arne Jacobsen.
