GOOD CONDITION This sale is for a VICTORIAN hardback edition entitled “ Jane Eyre ,” by Charlotte Bronte , with engraved illustrations, including a frontispiece. It was published by Smith, Elder & Co., of London , in 1877 and is one of the wonderful vintage “Life and Works of Charlotte Bronte and Her Sisters” series. The book measures 7.75 inches x 5.5 inches x 1.5 inches and has 483 pages (+ illustrations), which are marbled to all rims. The book is in good condition for its age, generally neat save two small closed tears to the side rim of the second title page, with minor wear and is a little grubby to the cloth hardback cover, with a little foxing near the covers. There are NO inscriptions/book-plates and NO other ink or pencil markings in the book. The book appears to have been professionally/skilfully bound (not recently) in solid burgundy cloth hardback, with gilt lettering and tooling to the spine. The binding is good with no loose or missing pages. As issued, there is no dust-jacket. A wonderful illustrated VICTORIAN edition.
