The Butterfly When it comes to my art - I'm terribly insecure. I will look at one bead or charm and agonize over the colour and position for a long time. That said - I'm really happy with this bracelet. It is one that virtually made itself. Needless to say it started with the gorgeous filigree butterfly. I don't solder (it can damage some vintage metals or plate) so it is layered on a solid brass finding. The fire from the crystal gave me a colour palette and the genuine vintage brass leave charms added a mixture of textures. I've used some artificially "antiqued" pieces and some authentic old patinas to give it an aged look. I wanted it too evoke an overgrown and secret garden. Despite the neglect the garden has continued to thrive. It has a small grotto with a still water pond. Moss, ivy and ferns compete for space. T is decayed and broken garden furniture. Rose bushes have turned rogue but still display a range of spectacular colour. A wrought iron table holds the rusting remains of garden tools. The summer palette is olive and light greens, citrus lemon, lime and orange, wine and claret and a tiny dash of vivid pink. Every charm bracelet I make has a distinct personality. When I'm making a bracelet I hang my "canvas" (the chain) on a model making clamp. It is really a 3 dimensional sculpture that is going to be hanging and
