I have always been lucky enough to live very close by a QVC(R) Outlet Store. You can not imagine the BARGANS!!!!! It is Heaven !!!! This Coin came from that store sometime in the, I believe, 1990's. I am including the Plastic sleeve that it came in with the particulars of the Coin. This 1 inch in Diameter "ADMIRAL GARDNER COPPER COIN PENDANT with an 18KT (labeled "18KT " and an "F" in a circle on the "jump ring" that a Chain can go through) is an original "EAST INDIA COMPANY x Cash" Copper Coin with a brown Patina. T is an extra "dollop" of copper on the reverse side that, at first, looked like a whale but then looked at it with a 10x jeweler's loupe and compared it with others on the internet. This is an original coin that was recovered from a ship called the "Admiral Gardner" that was wrecked in a storm in 1809 as it was carrying these coins that were newly minted and being sent to the British East India Company. In Atlantic City, we have a tourist attraction called "Gardner's Basin" and I wondered if it was named after that ship and that is why I bought the coin. I have not cleaned it. It has a brown color patina (don't know if that is natural over time or applied by company who sold it on QVC). The Bale at top will accomodate about a 3-4mm chain.
