I am listing several Figures that are generally 19th century Staffordshire or late 18th century Derby. Most have been in a private collection or, in some cases, on my mantle for years. Some have factory identification. Most have Condition Issues, which are Noted below. DESCRIPTION This Charming Cottage was made circa 1850, probably in Staffordshire, England. It has some unusual features. With 3 open windows and 7 round holes in the turrets, it is certainly a Pastille Burner. Both Chimneys are also open on the top. Aperature in the rear for insertion of pastille. Orange door. Features are unique with a prominent application of extruded or shredded clay decorating the edges of the roof lines and turrets. Face is liberally decorated with applied flowers. Colors are delightful, with polychrome flowers and a good glaze that features gold trim. This figurine is carefully modeled and nicely painted. Base is modified oval with Gold Stripe. DIMENSIONS Base Measurements: just under 5 1/2" x 2 1/4" Height: 6 3/4" CONDITION Some Condition Issues. Large orange flower and several smaller ones have chipped petals. Hairline from large Blue Flower. Significant cracks on back, but piece was not broken and glued. 1 crack follows over roof; old related chip. Slaw trim appears intact. No Crazing, Really Nice Glaze and Colorful Enamels.
