Charvoz Proportional Dividers Nickel, vintage, with toothed rack. Made in Japan. Mid 1950's . 8" from point to point. From about the mid 1950's, these appear to made of a nickel, or perhaps a brass, alloy with hardened steel points. Whatever alloy the main body is, it is non-metallic. The shaped (almost carved) points are hardened steel, still quite sharp, and look to be brazed into the body. Has scales for lines, circles, planes and solids. I did clean a little bit of the main body, and they do appear to be made of nickel, rather than brass, but that is just my opinion. While in overall good condition, and still operational, a few of the teeth in the rack are a little rough and need to be dressed with a jeweler/locksmith's file (please see below pics).
