Cabinet Photograph of A Bearded Lady, by Charles Eisenmann Chas. Eisenmann was a photographer who made a living photographing the human exhibits, a.k.a. "freaks", of the circuses and sideshows in the Bowery of New York. His photographs are featured in a book by Michael Mitchell, titled "Monsters." The photo measures 6 1/2" x 4 1/4". The photograph was taken by Charles Eisenmann. Hand written in pencil is Mrs. Annie Jones. "The popular Photographer" 229 Bowery, N.Y. Branch Gallery 18. West 14. th Str. N.Y. The cabinet cards were introduced in the 1860's. They were sutiable for display in your cabinet or family albums. The name of the photographer or studio is usually imprinted on the bottom.
