For auction is an antique, chatelaine clip which has three link chains suspended from the clip. Each chain has a clip piece and t are ladies' attachments on each chain. The clip is about 3 1/2 inches across and 1 1/2 inches wide at the middle. It has additional circles at each end so that t could be more chains attached. The clip is crude and base metal. It is folded over itself so it is rectangular. Originally, it was pointed and longer. The clip metal is not marked so I can't say if it is solid silver or not. The clip decoration is stamped. The design on the front is what I would characterize as Art Nouveau. The outside chains extend about 6 to 6 1/4 inches from the clip. The chain on the right has a round piece that has a mirror with a cover that rotates open from the top. This is not marked as to metal so I can't say if it is base metal or silver. The mirror is complete but with some spots. The other outside chain has a rectangular piece that opens when rotated from the top. I don't know the specific purpose for this but it appears most likely to have been a holder for a dance card or lady's calendar or notes. The front piece is pierced and has a faux jeweled decoration with lots of swirls. Like the other side this is not marked as to metal content.
