Authentic Maritime presents a LARGE DIAL CHELSEA Nautical US Maritime Commission Clock & Key *ONE YEAR WARRANTY, NO RESERVE* The pictures (all taken in natural daylight) speak for themselves! This is an AUTHENTIC 8-1/2" dial (10-3/4" Case) CHELSEA Military 8 day, time only, ship's clock. This is a US MARITIME COMMISSION model. It runs for over 12 days. A very rare 12 hour dial with original hands and ZULU (GMT) hand. Vintage clock was made by Chelsea in Boston on July 11, 1945 (stamped on the movement is 495919). The clock has been fully restored and serviced by a former Chelsea Tech and keeps excellent time. Has WALTHAM PLATFORM! Full ONE year warranty . The clock begins ticking within two turns of the key after being fully run down. The bezel closes fully and flawlessly. The silvered over SOLID BRASS dial is in great conditon and looks like new. The Phenolic Chelsea case is very sturdy and in nice original off-the-shelf condition. The glass is perfect. Cork seal is excellent. Comes with Chelsea US made brass Winding Key (as shown). An excellent timekeeper. (Make sure you get a fully serviced clock here on ebay! Repairs for these clocks at the factory typically run well in excess of $400. It's better to buy the best one you can afford instead of trying to "fix up" a broken one. A mechanical clock that doesn't keep accurate time isn't very useful!) Chelsea clocks are still made in Boston, and remain THE STANDARD in mechanical clocks. These clocks are no longer made and are extremely reliable. This one is in original condition and can be relied up as an accurate timepiece. Over 65 years old! This is the FINEST military Chelsea I have ever seen . Clean as a whistle inside and out. Many Chelseas are still running perfectly after 100 years! They are "The TIMEKEEPERS of the SEA!" Great for the collector or your first Chelsea.
