This pretty Chelsea Red Anchor Period pierced basket has been in my collection for many years. We bought it at Christie's in London at a porcelain sale. It is nicely painted with lots of insects and has intact flowers on either end of the bowl -- the handles are fine, too. The bowl has been broken at some time, though, and the restoration is starting to yellow on the inside of the basket and on the bottom. It's still lovely and has been a pretty important piece - it displays very nicely. T is no discoloration on the outside reticulation or the applied flowers. The bottom stilt marks are intact. I believe this could receive an inexpensive repaint of the yellowed area and look as good as new if the high bidder was botd. -- An honest piece dating to around 1760. Measurements: 11" long, 8.25" wide, and 3+" deep.
