The chemical company stock certificate grou p. 100 Air Products & Chemicals, 20 Celanese Corporation, a specimen Dow Chemical certificate, 100 Pennsylvania Salt Manufacturing , and a spe cime n PPG ( Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company) Indu str ies. I am seller the majority of my stock certificatecollection. While I will make commentson listing that are unique to a given certificate, there are certain things to know about most stock certificates. Stock (and bond) certificates represent ownership of a security either stocks (equity) or registered bonds (debt), and certificates were produced by the transfer agent that the issuing company employed to handle this matter. Transfer agents were usually banks. Stock ownership is always represented by a personalized certificate but was only a representation of the ownership. If the investor loses the certificate, as long as the transfer agent’s record show a sale never occurred, it could be replaced. Every certificate is issued a tracking number for this purpose. Some bonds are registered just like stock but most bonds were “bearer” bonds. That meant that the bond was generic and not issued in any name.
