I got this handsome classic piece near Lame Deer, Montana. For Natives, tobacco was not just something to do while you were sitting around bored. The smoke that would rise to the sky would bring prayers to God and the tobacco itself was used as an offering . To carry around something so important, you would need a special bag. This is just such a special bag. It is done in the multiple layers of rectangles that is very common for the Cheyenne. The star attraction tho for me is the Indian head( and yes t is s buffalo on the other side) nickel that someone soldered a loop onto to make into a button. I just love that old face that is worn so very smooth and pounded into a curved up manner. The flap has fringes all around the little row of alternating colored beads. T is a long row of fringes on the bottom with tin cones attached to jingle when you walk with it attached to your belt.T are white-heart red trade beads attached to the throngs that are for tying to a belt. This would make an excellent addition to anyone's collection. It measures about 6 1/2 inches from the top to the bottom with the fringes adding another 6 inches or so. The top opening is 6 inches across including the little fringes that stick out. Please only bid if you are serious about buying and paying for the item. Your bid is a binding contract with ebay.
