For auction today: tinted portrait from the 1920s in nice wooden frame, bubble glass, very good condition. Five pieces: ornate frame, portrait, two cardboard mats, and bubble glass.Beautiful period frame, lovely carving, see photos for detail. A few very light scratches on the frame, one piece of wooden gingerbread has an age crack (visible in photo), but that's all. Very nice tiger-warbled finish on the wood. In amazing condition for the age, a great find. On back of frame, two stamped messages reading: "This frame specially designed and selected. Price of frame $6.90 includes glass and back only. One price, cannot be altered or changed." Dimensions of frame: 18" x 12". Portrait is of "Grandma Delenie," written in pen on the back. Most portraits of the day were black and white; this one is tinted, Grandma has nice pink cheeks, lips, brown eyes, although she looks a little tired. :-) Portrait has a few scratches around the edge w the frame rested (see photos). Other than that, no water marks, folds or bends, only marks expected from a piece of this age. This portrait was done by the famous Chicago Portrait Company, stamp on back reads: Cathedral Design, Patenetd (note misspelling) June 24, 1924. Made and sold by CHICAGO PORTRAIT COMPANY. Also on back is written in crayon 37, then below, 10-2901 Bubble glass is in quite good condition, some rough spots around the edges to be expected. No cracks, scratches or other marks on the viewing area. Patent message at very bottom edge of glass reads Design Patent No. 650.
